Campervan and RV Rentals near San Francisco, CA

At a Glance: Bay Area RV Rentals

The San Francisco Bay Area, with its mediterranean climate, direct flights to its two international airports (OAK, SFO), attracts a steady, year-round stream of enthusiastic travelers from all over the world.

The San Francisco-Oakland-Bay Area is an ideal travel hub and departure location for destinations all over Northern California. The entire State of California is connected by a network of highways, rails and roads that all pass through the Bay Area.

Thousands of these visitors are families, couples and groups of friends are choosing to experience Northern California's best places by booking RV road trips.

The East Bay (Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward) is also where the major RV rental agency depots are located. This makes it easy to access famous destination like Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, or east to Lone Pine, CA, Yosemite, Death Valley, and south toward Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara.

It is a good idea to book your RV rental early in the season. Especially, when considering booking an RV rental for a major event like Burning Man or for a leisurely road trip to one of the great California national park such as the Lassen Wilderness, Pinnacles, Alabama Hills or the famous Yosemite.

Vehicle pricing and availability is seasonal. Therefore, prices are subject to basic supply and demand dynamics. Our advice again: book early. Don’t wait until May or June to book your trip. Book your RV for Burning Man in late September or October. You will get the best price if you do this.

Tip: Try to book into your flight into the Oakland Airport first, then SFO if not possible. The major RV rental agency vehicle depots are located a short distance away from OAK. SFO is across the Bay Bridge, approximately 26 miles away.

Tip: If at all possible, try to avoid going to Yosemite in July or August. It can be unpleasant experience to get stuck in a traffic jam on the valley floor on a hot August day. Go somewhere else in. During peak season, lesser known but just as majestic national parks like the Lassen Wilderness are not as heavily traveled.
